Experience the joy of singing, connect with a supportive community, and enhance your well-being as we celebrate the power of our collective voices!Cappella Chorale is an inclusive Brisbane choir bringing people together to build community through the magic and power of music.The choir sings a wide range of inspirational music from the canon of Western art music to folk, world music, music from the stage and screen and popular, gospel and jazz styles.The name ‘cappella’ (Italian for ‘chapel’) points to our choir’s foundation: a place of refuge, serenity, hope and community.We rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings (6.30pm - 8.30pm) at Holy Spirit College, a vibrant school in Fitzgibbon. Our rehearsal efforts culminate in two seasonal concerts per year.Cappella Chorale is led by Artistic Director, Timothy Sherlock and supported by co-founder Tina Liu as piano accompanist.

TIMOTHY SHERLOCK
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND CONDUCTOR

Timothy Sherlock is a composer, choral conductor and handbell director based in Brisbane. Having enjoyed a successful career in music education, Timothy focuses his creative energies on writing choral and handbell music, conducting choral ensembles, presenting choral workshops and adjudicating at eisteddfods and music competitions around Australia. Timothy is the Choirmaster at QPAC and he directs the Children’s Health Queensland Community Choir.From 2012 - 2015, Timothy was the co-director of the Gallipoli Choir, the official choir convened by the Australian Government for the annual ANZAC Day Dawn and Lone Pine services at Gallipoli, Turkey.He was the nominated Australasian massed-ringing conductor at the 17th International Handbell Symposium in Vancouver Canada in July 2016 and the 18th International Handbell Symposium in Cairns, Australia in August 2018.

TINA LIU
CO-FOUNDER AND ACCOMPANIST

Tina is a seasoned musician, ensemble director, educator, facilitator and resource creator with over 20 years of experience in the performing arts. After a successful 17-year tenure as the Director of Percussion, Piano, and Voice at All Hallows’ School, Tina now relishes the adventure of freelancing, embracing the opportunity to continue exploring her creativity through a wide array of diverse projects.A versatile performer on both piano and percussion, Tina has been the accompanist for QPAC Choir since 2013. Tina is also the founder and Creative Director of the contemporary percussion ensemble, Percussimo, from 2013 to 2023.As a resource creator, Tina has authored a method book, compositions, and music resources that are cherished by teachers and students not only in Brisbane but also internationally.Tina is also an internationally trained and experienced rhythm event and workshop facilitator. With a keen interest in fostering connections and nurturing communities, she thrives on the rewarding experience of bringing people together through the universal language of rhythm and the power of music.In her spare time, Tina enjoys crafting as her ‘non-music’ creative pursuit and sharing this passion through creating personalised gifts and stickers for family, friends and students.

A concert curated around the concept of COLOUR! Featuring a red love song, an orange jazz standard, a green madrigal, a blue pop medley, a pink movie showstopper and much, much more! Funds raised from concert entry are donated to our wonderful venue host, St Gerard Majella Catholic Church.

Back to Broadway (08.06.24)
Celebrating 100 years of musicals, Back to Broadway! is a shimmering choral showcase featuring songs and medleys from some of the greatest shows of all time.

Christmas Celebration (06.12.23)
Join Cappella Chorale for an enchanting evening of choral music to celebrate the festive season. Funds raised from concert entry are donated to our wonderful venue host, St Flannan’s Catholic Church.

Magnolia Concert (09.09.23)
In their debut Concert, Cappella Chorale presents a broad range of repertoire, from the Baroque majesty of Handel, to works by Mozart and Rutter, with some pop and jazz standards thrown in for good measure!
